Assignment #13

Assignment #13

Jasmine:
In this photo Jasmine is standing in the desert with an m16 in her hands and ammo with grenades strapped to her body with a war going on around her. There are tanks and explosions all around her with helicopters flying overhead thru fire and smoke. She is standing on white sand with little flowers all over and a bright blue sky with the sun shining.

Life for Jasmine must have been rough because she was princes of a very peaceful place. Then a war happened and ruined her peace and now she has to fight for her and her people. Jasmines face says that she is fighting with pride and for what she had lost from the war. By the way the war looks. It looks like she is facing defeat.

I think it is ironic that a wonderful fairy tale took place were we are having a war right now. You wouldn’t think that a war could ruin a child’s perspective on their favorite childhood story. I wonder what other people think about it and how would they explain it to somebody who is extremely effected by this photo.

Snowy:
In this photo Snow White is standing there with 2 kids in her arms 1 playing and 1 standing around with her lazy prince charming siting in a chair drinking a beer watching TV. The dog is eating chips off the carpet in their 70s style house. By the way they are living it looks like it wasn’t happily ever after, after all.

Life for Snow White must suck because I bet she wouldn’t want a lazy man or 4 kids either. She was probably thinking she was going to find her prince charming and have 1 kid and live like a queen. Instead she is a house wife that slaves herself to do things. Plus the man in the photo isn’t doing anything to help with the kids or the house.

I think that the photo is hilarious because no story has a happy ending. Especially when the woman falls in love with a lazy prince charming. Also you can’t expect a relationship to go good with no problems. Plus it fairy tale love is not real love.

assignment #9: merchants of cool

The 3 things that surprised me are one that I.C.P. was a subject of interest in the media's search for what people thought was cool because not a lot of people know about them, at least to my knowledge. The second thing is I didn't know that Limp Biscuit played at Woodstock and started anarchy and became huge after. The third thing that surprised me is that they pay people to go and fined what teens think is cool and then put two and two together and come up with amazing stuff that the people love and go crazy for.

I think it is cool that they will study what people want because then the media and the people will both be happy and there for no one can lose so we get what we want and thy get what they want.

I agree with the statement {the media is like a mirror} because it is like mirrors they show us what people see are generation is doing and how we do it.
